This is a picture of the house on one of our famous Spring storms. We live up on the Palmer Divide which is famous for its storms, both for snow and for thunder& lightning. This storm was only supposed to drop a "dusting", we got a foot when it was all done. We really don't trust the weather reports here.
Our house is a raised ranch style that sits on 1/2 acre. We have the corner lot so our yard is "pie" shaped with the pointy end at the back. We have no street lights up here so when the sun goes down you can really see the stars.
The deck you see wraps all the way around the back. It used to have our hot tub on it but it was old and started to leak really bad so Dad and I chopped it up and had it hauled away. We also have a deck off of the master bedroom and a small deck for a front porch. The front door is not the green door you see in the picture, that is actually our downstairs "family" room. I use that deck to sit in the shade after working in the yard enjoying a drink and a cigar. Our front door is at the top of the stairs on the left of the picture.
The same view, as in the picture, of our house at night has been described by my Mother-in-Law as, "the stern of a 18th century sailing ship as it sails away." I have to agree with her on that. I think in the evening with the lights on in the house it gives it a certain flare, but then everybody thinks they have the perfect house don't they? If they didn't they wouldn't have bought it I guess.
